PPG Industries Engineering Scholarship
Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) Industries is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1883 by Capt. John B. Ford and John Pitcairn, PPG established the first commercially successful plate glass factory in the United States in Creighton, Pa. Today, PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings, optical products, specialty materials, glass, and fiberglass. With more than 46,000 employees worldwide and net sales exceeding $15 billion, PPG supports customers in the industrial, transportation, consumer products, and construction markets and aftermarkets to enhance more surfaces in more ways than any other company.
Capt. John B. Ford and John Pitcairn prided themselves on innovation and quality - values that continue to define PPG Industries more than 130 years later.
The PPG Industries Engineering Scholarship was established in 2024 as part of We Rise Together, the Campaign for The University of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ.
The PPG Industries Engineering Scholarship is funded yearly through the PPG Foundation’s grant process and will be awarded to an undergraduate student of any engineering discipline, including engineering technology, involved in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) or the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Preference will be given to first generation college students and/or students who demonstrate financial need. The recipient must also maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or higher in engineering.
NSBE and SHPE are Registered Student Organizations, which are open to all students in good standing at The University of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ. Eligible recipients will be determined by The University Scholarship Committee in the Office of Student Financial Aid, with assistance as needed by the College of Engineering and Polymer Science scholarship committee.
The award supports tuition and fees and will be applied directly to the recipient's student account.
